How To Get Your Space Wedding Ready

Anyone who has ever looked in to hosting weddings will know how scary the prospect can be.  Not only is there pressure to create a desirable wedding space, but also there’s the mammoth task of getting your head around pricing, marketing, legalities, not to mention how to host such an important event.

Working with a wedding and event consultant will help smooth the way into offering weddings.  We spoke with Hazel Parsons from Hazel Parsons Wedding and Events Consultancy to understand more about what an event consultant does and how they can help spaces offer weddings.

Hello. My name is Hazel Parsons and I run Hazel Parsons Wedding & Event Consultancy working with new and existing wedding venues across the UK to help them realise their full potential and book those weddings! We also manage a number of independent wedding venues looking after their day to day management, marketing, sales and coordinating weddings and events on their behalf allowing them to access a new revenue stream without the owners having to be hands-on. We offer as much or as little support as the venue needs, giving them access to a team of 5 highly skilled wedding professionals as and when the business needs it.

We have the knowledge, the know-how, the skills and the connections to point new wedding venues in the right direction and to get them wedding ready. We know their competitors, the barriers that lay ahead of them, pricing, the current wedding market, what their customers want and their supply chain will need and most importantly how to generate the right level of wedding bookings in the most cost effective way!

When someone interested in our service gets in touch we start with a phone consultation that lasts for about 20 minutes and it’s completely free of charge. During the call I listen to their journey so far, who they are, what they want to achieve and then let them know how we can help them do this. I also give out a few top tips along the way on where they start and how to. At the end of the call I then offer them the option to book in an initial venue consult at their property, this part we do charge for but the service is worth more than its weight in Gold. The service includes research prior to the visit, a 2.5 – 3 hour walk through and meeting at the venue, a meeting overview and action plan with an outline on where and what to do next and a bracket guideline for pricing. It also includes a 1 month help desk on anything we cover in the meeting by phone or by email.

The services that we can offer after this point include a package that includes any of the following:

Consulting on building plans

We usually remain working with a venue for at least a year.  The first year is normally when we are the most hands-on at a venue, however we still work with 95% of our venue clients each year, whether we are managing their property or just writing their press releases our clients tend to pop back as and when they need help, like for instance a slump in bookings or low enquiry numbers and they aren’t sure what’s going wrong.

Most of our services are very bespoke depending on the venue size, location and what is required.  However, as a guide to our costs, an initial venue consult in Cornwall is £395 plus travel and in Devon and up to Bristol is £495 plus travel. Our hourly fee for telephone consultancy support is £45 per hour based at one of our offices.
