The jail offers a unique historic venue for your wedding ceremony and celebrations; the atmospheric spaces and beautiful architecture will give your wedding photographer plenty of creative backdrops in which to record your magical day.
We are able to accommodate your special day from beginning to end; from the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening refreshments, to live music and party venue. By working closely with our in-house wedding co-ordinator we can organise your day, and make it completely unique to you.
Our licence allows wedding ceremonies to be held in several parts of the old Jail – maybe you will choose our infamous ‘Long-Room’; flanked on both sides with the original cells, this room truly sets the scene for a unique experience for you and your guests. Or perhaps our majestic Governors Hall with its intricate panelling and tall gothic leaded windows is more your cup-of-tea? This is our largest space and popular with wedding parties to host an all-day occasion. Within the Hall is a stunning balcony area, and two viewing boxes; both beautifully finished and perfect for smaller, more intimate gatherings.
We cater for both traditional, alternative, and themed wedding parties for up to 110 guests, with parking onsite and nearby.
Plans for the rejuvenation of part of the Jail as a hotel are in place, and it is expected to be opened in the Spring 2019; offering you and your guests unusual accommodation to complete your wedding package.
