Flagging It Up! Our guide to festooning your space with flags

So you’ve hired an amazing space for your wedding but it needs a colour injection.  Swags of flags have proved time and time again to be the perfect choice.  Whether you have a barn, marquee, garden or warehouse, stringing yards of bunting to suit your style will unify the space.

When it comes to sourcing bunting, it can be costly to purchase.  As a result, couples often add ‘make bunting’ to their list of DIY preparations.  However, with so many jobs to do in the build up to the wedding, making your own is hugely time consuming and not necessarily cost effective.  Delegating the making to a family member or friend might seem a good option, but trust us, after they’ve made 60 metres of bunting, they may not thank you for asking!

What’s the answer?! Hiring it in!  Why put yourself through that extra stress when perfectly made bunting in every colour and fabric choice imaginable can be hired.

So how does hire work, and the all important question, will it be a budget friendly? We asked one of our recommended suppliers, the lovely Traci at Funky Flags, how bunting hire works.

Specific colour and style theme? Can you hire bunting to match?

At Funky Flags we stock a wide range of beautiful bunting, expertly handmade from the highest quality designer and vintage fabrics.  There’s just about every colour choice imaginable to suit your scheme and style. If we haven’t got exactly what you are looking for, we will make a bespoke order to suit your needs. Maybe you would like some wording added to make it extra special or perhaps you have a favorite piece of fabric you have been hanging on to and never known what to do with, we could make it into a piece of bunting for you to keep and to treasure.

How does the hire work?

Bunting is usually supplied in 10 meter lengths, and you tie the lengths together to suit your venue.  (BTW shortening the bunting length by cutting them is a big no no! A refundable damages deposit is always taken to ensure the bunting is returned in good condition and in complete lengths.  If you want shorter lengths just ask as these can usually be arranged).  Prices range from £20 for a 5 day hire.

The bunting can either be collected in person or a fully insured courier service is used to deliver nationwide.  It will arrive neatly packaged in a box ready to be hung up.  When you are ready to return, there’s no need to wash the bunting, just pop into the pre-supplied return mailing bag and it’ll be collected by courier on an agreed date.

Marquees/Space have a high ceilings.  How do we put up the bunting?

Bunting is supplied ready for you to hang up. Most venues will be happy to do this for you and marquee companies will most likely hang it for you as soon as the marquee is erected. Just let them know in advance so they can arrange for it to be done.  At Funky Flags, we do ask for the bunting to be tied with twine, ribbon or cable ties as opposed to be pinned up as this can lead to damage.

So there you have it! Festoon your space with gorgeous flags and save yourself the stress by hiring them in.
